Job Description

Main Duties:

  • Act as subject matter expert to assist other team members to resolve accounting discrepancies and inaccuracies for our tenants.
  • Ensure the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation statement and circulation of monthly results to owners.
  • Prepare and file HST returns.
  • Process journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the Month End and Year End accounting process for assigned portfolio.
  • Prepare and reconcile common area maintenance cost and property tax apportionment for tenants.
  • Process receipts of payments, cheque deposits, rent charges, etc.
  • Set up and maintain leases for our tenants.
  • Monitor account receivables and follow up with our tenants.
  • Monitor the budgets in assigned properties, investigate significant variances between budget and actual costs, follow up with stakeholders like Property Managers to explain variances and escalate exceptions to management.
  • Participate in the preparation and analysis of financial reports.
  • Participate in year end, interim or ad-hoc audits by attending to audit enquiries and requests.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Other Duties:

In addition to the duties above, the accounting administrator will:

  • Participate in special projects related to, but not limited to, the roll out of software upgrades and new software modules.
  • Bring forward ideas for process improvements that will enhance operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with the Residential Management Team to ensure their needs are met with respect to the assigned portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
  • Considerable experience in property accounts administration.
  • CPA designation (or working towards it).
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities.
  • Above average excel skills with an ability to develop dashboard reporting for KPI’s specific to the multi-residential industry.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with senior management as well as property managers and team members.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
